Induction Cooking

Induction Cooker:
When I first came across the idea called cooking through induction it sound weird to me first.

I was looking for some alternative source of cooking media -simple-fast-handy that will replace cooking gas -as you know cooking gas is becoming and shall be costlier in the days to come.

I saw advertisements in the net and finally bought an induction cooker Bajaj Majesty.

It is working fine with me and my family for about two years.

Pros : You can do away with or at least reduce the usage of cooking gas .

It works excellent with boiling for example like tea, coffee, warming milk, boiling water to sterilize my one month year sons utensils. etc.

However you have to use steel / any induction compatible utensil to boil you ingredients.

Temperature: About 300 degrees/1000 watts will be ok .
Time : About 3 minutes to start boiling.
The cadai - covered bowl - that came with it comes handy . I use that sterilizing my sons utensils.
It is light and runs in electricity - so no booking- no running after gas delivery man etc.

Safety:
It is safe from burns.

Cons : electricity bill will rise but not to the extent you will faint. The overall cost of cooking will be cheaper .
If you use the cooker everyday for 2 hours your electricity bill will rise about Rs 450/ - Rs 480/- But believe me you wont have to use it for 2 hours every day.

My experience/ advice:
When you buy an induction cooker buy the following:

  1. One Pressure cooker 5 liters - Aluminium body with induction Base - Tempo/Asian will be Ok
  2. A steel sauce pan - any company doesn't have to be branded
  3. A frying pan-any company doesn't have to be branded
  4. Cadai/ cora for deep frying-any company doesn't have to be branded
Try and enjoy.
